Winter Wonderland - NOT!

Well here I sit snowed in because Seattle is seeing the worst winter storm in 18 years!!! Of course this would have to happen right before we leave. We have had constant snow since last Sunday - 8 days in a place where it rarely drops below freezing. Don't get me wrong, it does get cold here but the high temps during the winter are usually not in the freezing zone and if they are it is a very short period of time. We are going on 3 weeks of freezing weather. Of course the kids love it. Tyler was out of school 2 days last week and went late the other 3. We went out on Saturday for my birthday because we were under a blizzard watch - I repeat a BLIZZARD watch. If you haven't caught on - I hate the snow, cold, ice and anything that has to do with it (other than the holidays). We went to Walmart Saturday and there was a traffic jam like I have never seen before. Lines of cars in every direction just sitting at a stand still because nobody could move. I don't know if it was Xmas shoppers or people buying supplies for the storm but it was insane. According to weather reports this type of weather is suppose to last until at least the New Year. I certainly hope we thaw before we have to head out to Alabama!

This was taken this morning....it is hard to tell but there is about a foot of snow on the ground and a few inches of ice below that. Poor Lily has been using the bathroom on our back porch because the snow is so deep that she sinks!

ER Outing

Tonight Vanna decided that we needed a little excitement so she thought breaking her nose would do the trick! We were at the PX for Tyler's Yugio tournament and we were walking around the store and all of a sudden she started screaming and ran to me with a huge bloody nose and a big red mark between her eyes. I asked her what she ran into and she said she tripped and fell on her nose on the carpet - so I am assumming the red mark is a carpet burn? Anyway the store was packed so I managed to get to the Clinique counter and interrupted the employee and a shopper and asked for some kleenex so we could make it to the bathroom. I managed to get her nose to stop bleeding and with the exception of the red mark she looked ok...for a minute. I was going to make an appt in the morning to get her checked out just in case since it was not swollen or bruised. Unfortunately I thought too soon. Within about 20 minutes she developed this bruise that made a line from the top of her nose to the bottom. I could not believe it. I grabbed Tyler from his tournament (he came in 2nd by the way) and we headed to the ER. The Dr. looked at her and said it is straight and not out of alignment (phew!!) but that it may be cracked though. So off to xrays. They took 3 different shots of her and luckily it is not broken, but we have been referred to a nose specialists in case it is cracked but it is hard to tell because of the swelling. So I have to call in the morning and make an appt. with the specialist. So not only does my baby look silly because of her bangs, she now has a broken nose to go along with it and just in time for Xmas pictures!

Meet and Greet

Saturday the kids and I ventured to the PX to see the Tennessee Titan cheerleaders (Tyler's favorite NFL team) and Scooby Doo. They were there making appearences and taking pictures for the holidays. There were so many people there it was hard to move - definately not my scene. I guess as the years go by the luster of huge crowds at Xmas time has lost its appeal to me because at this point I can't stand crowds. But lucky us - the Grinch happened to appear as well!

Tyler hanging with the babes!

This was the main event for Vanna - Scooby even danced to the xmas music.

Vanna was not too fond of the grinch and kept her distance.

Charlie Brown Tree

Since we are moving we are not putting up any xmas decorations this year because they are already packed (which is really depressing since xmas is my favorite time of year). But we did put up a small tabletop tree the kids picked out today. It is fiber-optic and I guess they thought it was pretty cool b/c now I have a 3 foot fiber-optic xmas tree in what is left of my living room. We bought some ornaments for it and they like it, but I have to admit I feel kind of like I am giving charlie brown's tree a run for its money (for those of you that have no idea what I am talking about just watch the xmas episode of Charlie Brown which I am sure will be on TV in the next few weeks). We told the kids that we are not doing alot for xmas this year and Santa knows we are leaving so he is not bringing as much stuff as he did last year (which is probably good since they got way too much crap last year....that darn Santa! The kids thought that by putting a small tree up will let Santa know that they only want small stuff this year that they can take in the car with them.....how cute is that. Of course right after that conversation, a boy at school told Tyler there was no such thing as Santa so I had to come forth with the lie I had been telling my kid for the last 11 years. Of course it definately takes the xmas pressure off since now the boy knows xmas comes from the bank of mom/dad and "santa" can modify the gift list at any given time without warning.

On another note - my laptop that Donnie took on his trip with him has crashed....it will not boot up or do anything. This is a bit ironic since we just bought a new laptop a few days before he left that way I had a new one for school and he could take my old one with him for his school. Alot of good that did.....anyway the point is that unless we can get the laptop fixed and the geek squad can recover the hard drive, I have lost every picture we have taken since about 2005. I have to say I am a LITTLE pissed to say the least. So the moral of the story is to back you stuff up. The funny thing is I was just watching a Sex and the City episode where Carrie's computer crashed and she lost everything b/c she didn't "back up". I thought it was amuzing because it is something I have never thought about.....guess the joke is on me. So for the mean time I have no pictures of the dress for those of you who are waiting and no pictures of my life for the last 3 1/2 years. Lesson learned!

A few pics that I have left on my camera.

The crazy child... I wonder where she gets this stuff from :) Jenny - lets not bring up the ninja turtle episode in my parents room with the laundry basket if you remember it...my dad loves to whip out that tape when we come home to visit to show Donnie how "brilliant" his wife is. (By the way it was about 60 degrees out this day).

Our little tree in the dark.....the fiber optics makes it look like it is going to explode!

The kids and our "charlie brown" tree... (notice Vanna's new do - love the bangs don't cha, it almost looks like the beetle hair Katie and I sported at Duff).
